A Spring Market with Tradition

The KunstHandWerkMarkt Monheim evolved from the traditional Monheim May Market and has become one of the best-known arts and crafts markets in the western Altmühltal. Organized by the town of Monheim together with ProGeMo, the association for trade and commerce in Monheim, the market has invited visitors to the historic old town of the Swabian small town in the Donau-Ries district every year on a Sunday in May since 2018.

The Old Town as a Market Stage

The market area extends over a circuit through the entire town center between the city gates – via the Marktplatz, Kirchstraße, and the Am Klosterhof area. Over 70 selected exhibitors showcase their handmade products: jewelry, wood crafts, ceramics, candles, metal decorations, macrame, watercolor art, painting, floral arrangements, knit and crochet items, as well as baby and children's clothing.

Culinary Delights and Family Program

Monheim's gastronomy businesses and market stalls cater to your culinary needs with hearty and sweet delicacies, as well as cocktails. Numerous Monheim specialist shops are open on the Sunday with open shops. For families, there is a children's carousel and a bouncy castle, plus an exhibition in the Haus des Gastes and a book flea market.

Location in the Altmühltal Nature Park

Monheim is located on the Monheimer Alb in the extreme north of Swabia, at the intersection of the Altmühltal Nature Park and the Donau-Ries district in Bavaria. The market is ideal as a prelude to a spring hike across the Alb plateau.
