150th Anniversary of the Kameraden- und Soldatenverein Fünfstetten — Pentecost Weekend 2026
Kameraden- und Soldatenvereine (KSV) were founded throughout Bavaria in the 19th century after the German unification wars (1864, 1866, 1870/71) — mostly as associations of former soldiers who organized regular meetings, parades on Remembrance Days, and mutual camaraderie. Such an association was also founded in Fünfstetten in 1876, and it still exists today.
Over 150 years of continuous existence mean a club history that has survived two world wars and is deeply rooted in the village social structure of Fünfstetten. Today, Kameraden- und Soldatenvereine focus less on old military culture and more on remembrance of the fallen and camaraderie among former Bundeswehr members and civilian members.
The Pentecost weekend from May 22nd to 24th, 2026, is officially registered in the Fünfstetten municipality's event calendar as the festival date. Three days of ceremonies, a parade with traditional costume groups and brass bands from the Donau-Ries district, festival tent catering, and musical entertainment.
Fünfstetten is a small municipality in the Donau-Ries district in the far north of Bavaria (Bavarian Swabia) with around 1,000 inhabitants, located on the Swabian Jura. Despite its small population, the town has a vibrant club life with a fire brigade, sports club, music club, and the KSV.
The dates May 22–24, 2026, are officially confirmed by the Fünfstetten municipality's event calendar. The organizer is the Kameraden- und Soldatenverein Fünfstetten.
The detailed program will be published on the municipal website in the weeks leading up to the festival. Typical components of a 150th-anniversary celebration for a soldiers' association include: a ceremonial act with speeches and honors, a festive church service, a parade with traditional costume groups and brass bands, and a festival tent program on all three evenings.
