Medieval market in the entire village center
The Historisches Fest Huisheim is a special event in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries: not just a festival ground, but the entire village center is transformed into a medieval market. A cohesive historical backdrop emerges along the main street, Mündlinger Straße, and at Lettenbuck, encompassing the whole village.
The focus is on a medieval market and authentic camp life. Craftsmen demonstrate old techniques, jugglers and musicians provide entertainment, and stalls offer period-typical food and goods. The program is varied and involves numerous local clubs.
The festival is explicitly designed to be family-friendly. Children and adults can immerse themselves in the world of the Middle Ages, participate in hands-on activities, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere in the alleys. The atmosphere thrives on the unity of the backdrop, which encompasses the entire village center.
The festival is supported by the municipality of Huisheim and a specially founded festival committee, which undertakes extensive preparations. The intensive involvement of the village community makes the Historisches Fest an identity-shaping event for the place.

The 2026 edition runs from August 13 to 16 and transforms the entire village center of Huisheim into a medieval market. Hauptstraße, Mündlinger Straße, Am Lettenbuck, Am Bergle, and Oberdorfstraße are among the areas featured.
The program includes camp life, historical crafts, jugglers, musicians, and market stalls offering period-typical food and goods. A specially founded festival committee is organizing the family-friendly event. An admission fee ('Pflasterzoll') is charged.

Huisheim is located in the Donau-Ries district between Donauwörth and Nördlingen. By car via the B25 or B16. During the festival, the village center is restricted for through traffic; observe local parking facilities on the outskirts.

Since the entire village center is used for the event, a leisurely stroll through all the alleys is worthwhile to experience the complete historical ambiance.
