Town and Bridge Festival on the Wörnitz in Donau-Ries
The Harburg Bridge Festival is one of the most famous town festivals in the Donau-Ries district. The occasion and namesake is the old stone Wörnitz Bridge, which spans the town center of Harburg (Schwaben). For three days — Friday to Sunday — the town, together with local clubs, transforms the entire bridge area into an open festival and culinary mile.
The Bridge Festival is divided into four spatially distinct areas, each with its own character:
The highlight of every Bridge Festival is the boat parade on Saturday evening around 10:00 PM: a procession of illuminated boats on the Wörnitz, organized by the town of Harburg and local clubs. The parade attracts thousands of onlookers to the banks of the Wörnitz and the bridge every year.
Harburg (Schwaben) is located in the Donau-Ries district, a transitional area between the Swabian Jura, Franconian Jura, and the Danube Valley. High above the town sits Harburg Castle, one of the largest and best-preserved castle complexes in Southern Germany, dating back to the 12th century. Visitors to the Bridge Festival should not miss a castle tour or the view from above over the Wörnitz.
The Bridge Festival follows the tradition of Swabian town festivals: cozy, community-driven, with a clear mix of gastronomy, music, and social gathering. Admission is free, and the food and drinks are mainly provided by local clubs, ensuring stable and fair prices.
The 2026 edition of the Harburg Bridge Festival continues the tradition of previous years: three days of festival atmosphere in four spatially distinct zones around the Wörnitz Bridge. The town of Harburg and local clubs jointly organize the program. Band confirmations and the exact schedule will be communicated in spring 2026 via the town's website.
Families from the entire Donau-Ries district, day-trippers from Augsburg, Munich, and Nuremberg, as well as castle enthusiasts combining their visit to Harburg Castle with the town festival are expected.
Specific band confirmations and detailed program will be published in the weeks leading up to the festival on stadt-harburg-schwaben.de.
Harburg (Schwaben) is located in the Donau-Ries district, about 25 km north of Donauwörth, 90 km northwest of Munich. By car via the B25. Harburg (Schwaben) train station on the Munich–Nuremberg line.
Free admission to the entire festival grounds. Food and drinks are available directly at the stalls of the town of Harburg and local clubs.
Saturday evening, June 13th, 2026, around 10:00 PM on the Wörnitz. Best viewing spots: Wörnitz Bridge, Wörnitzinsel stage, and the banks of Grasstraße.
