Spring wine festival by six Meckenheim vintners in the vineyards above the village with a view and a compact tasting tour
The concept is already in the name: Six Meckenheim vintners serve their wines on the heights above the village. Instead of a central festival site, the stands are spread out along a circular path through the vineyards — a format that has become increasingly popular in the Palatinate in recent years. It combines wine tasting, light exercise, and landscape experience into a harmonious format.
The Meckenheim vineyards extend over the gentle slopes between the Palatinate Forest and the Rhine plain. The soils — clay, sand, marl — and the warm summer hours produce Rieslings with fruity freshness, smooth Burgundies, and powerful Pinot Noirs. The vintners participating in the event present their current vintage as well as selected aged wines.
The stations are located on the heights above Meckenheim — from here, the view opens up over the Rhine plain to the Odenwald and to the south towards Speyer. The vineyards themselves are particularly beautiful at this time of year: first shoots on the vines, spring wildflowers along the path, the mix of warm sun and cool wind from the Palatinate Forest.
6 auf der Höhe is deliberately not a loud public festival. Those who want to experience the Palatinate spring in a relaxed atmosphere — with good wines, personal contact with the vintners, and time for conversations — will find the ideal event here. The format is particularly suitable for weekend travelers who want to spend a whole day in the vineyards.
The 2026 edition follows the proven format of the wine festival: six stations in the vineyards, outdoor tasting, personal encounters with the vintners, hiking between the stations.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
The six participating Meckenheim vintners and their specific stations will be announced before the festival begins via the official channels and the platform weinfeste-der-pfalz.de.
