Köpenick and the Luisenhain
The Luisenhain is the historic ornamental park of the Köpenick Altstadt — a small park right next to the baroque Köpenick Palace and the Köpenick Town Hall, framed by the Dahme and the Spree. It is precisely here, in Berlin's oldest urban substance (Köpenick has been demonstrably settled since the 9th century), that the autumn festival is celebrated once a year.
Two Stages and a Park Full of Showmen
Unlike most Berlin district festivals, the Köpenicker Herbst features two stages that are used simultaneously. The program changes throughout the day:
- Afternoons: Family program, Schlager, cover bands, live concerts for a broad audience
- Evenings: Parties with DJ sets, rock covers, disco Schlager nights, with fire shows as a highlight on weekends
In between: Showmen with classic rides (carousel, children's carousel, shooting gallery), street food mile with German specialties, international delicacies, and Köpenick beer, information stands from local clubs, initiatives, and district activities.
Four Days Around October 3rd
For years, the festival has been positioned as a bridge day event for the Day of German Unity (October 3rd). Extended weekend from Thursday to Sunday, ideal for Berlin families who don't want to travel further, and for day-trippers from Brandenburg.
Treptow-Köpenick as Berlin's Greenest District
The Treptow-Köpenick district is by far the greenest and largest in Berlin by area. Köpenick, Friedrichshagen, Schmöckwitz, Müggelheim, and the Müggelsee lakes together form a landscape of water and forest, which is one of Berlin's most beautiful corners. Those who visit the Köpenicker Herbst typically combine it with a Müggelsee boat trip, a walk around Köpenick Palace, or lunch in the historic Köpenick Hauptmann restaurant.
