28th Kietzer Sommer — Street Festival in Köpenick's Fischerkietz
Classic Köpenick neighbourhood festival in the historic Fischerkietz with two stages and fireworks
2026
About Kietzer Sommer
Kietzer Sommer — edition 2026
The 28th edition sticks to the proven concept: a continuous day of programming in the historic Fischerkietz, from 11 am to 10:30 pm. Two stages run in parallel — the main stage with live music, show acts, and moderation, and the children's stage with age-appropriate family entertainment. In between, market stalls with arts and crafts, bric-a-brac, curiosities, and culinary specialities are spread throughout the narrow alleys.
The courtyard theatre in the inner courtyards of the historic houses, street musicians on the corners, stilt walkers, and barrel organ players in the alleys provide the typical festival atmosphere. The evening's highlight: fireworks over the water shortly before 10:30 pm.

Berlin in Miniature — the Fischerkietz celebrates
Anyone who comes to the Kietzer Sommer experiences a very different Berlin: not a mega-festival with closed main roads, but a village-like neighbourhood festival on historic cobblestones between the Spree, Dahme, and Müggelsee lakes. The Fischerkietz in Köpenick is one of Berlin's oldest settlements — the houses along the narrow alleys are centuries old, the atmosphere is almost like a fishing village on the Baltic Sea. This very place becomes the stage for one of Berlin's most charming street festivals once a year.
28th Edition on June 20, 2026
The 2026 edition takes place on Saturday, June 20, and runs from 11 am to 10:30 pm. The festival traditionally opens with the Köpenick festival parade, after which the stage programme begins. Two stages — the main stage with live music and show acts, and the children's stage with family entertainment — run parallel all day. In between, there's a market mile with arts and crafts, children's theatre, youth programme, street musicians, stilt walkers, and courtyard theatre in the inner courtyards of the historic houses.
2,000 Kietzwürste and Fireworks
The culinary signature is the Kietzwurst — over 2,000 pieces are sold in a single edition, homemade and only available on this one day. Accompanied by cake from the local bakery, drinks from the Köpenick brewery, and specialities from residents' stalls. The day concludes shortly before 10:30 pm with fireworks over the water — a small but atmospheric show that carries the festival into a long summer evening.
Supported by the Neighbourhood
The Kietzer Sommer has been an initiative of the Fischerkietz residents since 1997 and is supported by Kietzer Sommer e.V. and numerous volunteers. This is what defines its character: here, no commercial event company sells sausages, but the neighbours do — and the proceeds stay in the Kiez. The Treptow-Köpenick district supports the festival from the Kiez fund, and the district office symbolically stands behind the event. This genuine neighbourliness is one of the last authentic Berlin neighbourhood festival models — far from the overly commercialised major events in the city centre.
