Köpenick — Berlin's Baroque Old Town

Köpenick, situated in Berlin's southeastern Treptow-Köpenick district, is one of Berlin's most historically rich areas with its baroque old town. Köpenick Palace, a former Hohenzollern residence on the Schlossinsel, now houses the Museum of Decorative Arts (Staatliche Museen zu Berlin); Luisenhain is a wooded park on the Spree river right next to it. Both areas are used for the annual Köpenick Wine Summer, serving as an open-air wine stage.

12th Edition

The Wine Summer will enter its 12th edition in 2026. Over an August weekend, vintners from German wine regions – Rheingau, Mosel, Pfalz, Württemberg, Sachsen, Saale-Unstrut – will present their latest vintages at stalls around the Schlossinsel and in Luisenhain. Wine for tasting, drinking, and buying, often directly from the vintner. Additionally, there will be artisans with regional offerings, food stalls with cuisine that pairs well with wine, and a stage program at both locations.

Format and Atmosphere

The Wine Summer runs for three days: Friday 4–11 PM, Saturday 12–11 PM, Sunday 11 AM–8 PM. Free admission – wine and food are purchased directly at the stalls (glass deposit system). The atmosphere ranges between a classic wine festival and a neighborhood celebration: many locals from Köpenick attend, along with Berliners from the city center, and day-trippers from Müggelsee. Travel by S-Bahn line S3 to Köpenick, then tram 27 or 60, or walk through the old town.
