Open-air gallery on the Kelternplatz in front of the historic Sieben Keltern
Few squares in Baden-Württemberg are as impressive as the Kelternplatz in Metzingen: Seven historic wine presses (Keltern), built in the 16th and 17th centuries, surround a wide open space in the heart of the city. The ensemble of the Sieben Keltern is one of the largest preserved wine press ensembles in Germany and is a listed monument – a stage without equal. It is precisely here that the Swabian Art Market has taken place annually on Pentecost since 1989.
The city of Metzingen selects 78 exhibitors each year through a curated application process. The range extends from painting (acrylic, oil, watercolor, mixed media) and sculpture in wood, stone, and metal to ceramics, glass art, textile design, jewelry, and woodwork. A jury looks for originality, craftsmanship, and a recognizable artistic viewpoint.
The 38th edition will take place on Pentecost Sunday and Monday, May 24 and 25, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can wander through the stalls in the interior of the Keltern and on the Kelternplatz – the palpable daylight and the open halls of the Keltern make the market special. A children's program, culinary stands, and a curated live music line complement the market.
Metzingen is located in the district of Reutlingen at the foot of the Swabian Jura. Internationally, the city is primarily known for the Outletcity Metzingen – but the historic city center with the Kelternplatz, the town church, and its wine-growing tradition is also worth a visit. At the Swabian Art Market, you experience precisely this Metzingen, far from brand shopping.
The city of Metzingen has set the weekend of May 24 and 25, 2026 (Pentecost Sunday and Monday) for the 38th edition of the Swabian Art Market. The market opens daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with stalls spread across the Kelternplatz and the interior of the Sieben Keltern.
78 exhibitors will present their works – painting, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, glass art, textile art, woodwork, and photography. In addition, there will be children's activities, culinary stands, and – as in previous years – interspersed musical performances on the square.
