Metzingen Wine Arbour Festival — three days of wine in the Outletcity

The Metzingen Wine Arbour Festival is a young but quickly established city festival that leverages Metzingen's dual identity: here, the world-famous outlet stores (Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Armani, and more — the Outletcity Metzingen is one of Europe's largest outlet areas) meet the historic wine presses, reminiscent of Metzingen's centuries-old wine-growing tradition. The Wine Arbour Festival combines both worlds for a three-day late summer/early autumn event. The 4th edition runs from September 25th to 27th, 2026.

Opening Hours and Concept

The festival runs for three days with clearly defined opening hours:

  • Friday, September 25th — 5–11 PM (After-work opening)
  • Saturday, September 26th — 2–11 PM (Main programme day)
  • Sunday, September 27th — 11 AM–6 PM with Sunday trading in the city centre and Outletcity from 1 PM to 6 PM

The festival concept focuses on wine arbours — temporary wooden structures with vine leaf roofs, where individual Metzingen wineries and cooperatives serve their wines. Accompanied by stalls offering autumnal cuisine: onion cake with new wine, Maultaschen, Bratwurst, Käsespätzle, game dishes, pumpkin soup.

Metzingen Wine — the Seven Presses

Metzingen is located on the southern side of the Swabian Jura on the famous Württemberg wine-growing region. The vineyards around the city primarily produce Trollinger, Lemberger, Riesling, and Pinot Noir. The symbol of Metzingen's wine production is the "Sieben Keltern" (Seven Presses) — seven historic wine presses from the 16th to 18th centuries, standing together on the Kelterplatz, forming an architecturally exceptional ensemble. They are the cultural root from which the Wine Arbour Festival draws its inspiration.

Outletcity Metzingen — the Other Pole

With over 130 brands and around 4 million visitors per year, the Outletcity Metzingen is one of Europe's largest outlet centres. During the Wine Arbour Festival, both worlds merge: those who shop on Sunday trading day will find the wine arbours just around the corner afterwards. Those who come for the festival can combine it with outlet shopping on Sunday. This combination makes the Metzingen Wine Arbour Festival a particularly accessible event among Swabian wine festivals — tourists from all over the world are already present anyway.

Musical Accompaniment and Atmosphere

There is live music on all three days — brass band music from Metzingen music clubs, party bands, singer-songwriters, a classic late-summer mix. The atmosphere is family-friendly — with just under 23,000 inhabitants, Metzingen is a manageable town, and the festival has a clearly local character, but it is also internationally coloured by the Outletcity tourists.

Wine Arbour Festival Metzingen — edition 2026

The 4th Metzingen Wine Arbour Festival runs from September 25th to 27th, 2026, in Metzingen's city centre between the historic wine presses and the Outletcity. Three days of Metzingen wines, autumnal cuisine, and live music. Opening hours: Friday 5–11 PM, Saturday 2–11 PM, Sunday 11 AM–6 PM (Sunday trading 1–6 PM). Organiser: Förderkreis Metzinger Keltern e.V. via TourisInfo Metzingen.

2026 Programme — Fourth Edition

The 4th edition of the Wine Arbour Festival continues the established concept: wine arbours from Metzingen wineries and cooperatives, combined with stalls offering autumnal cuisine and a live music programme spanning all three days. The location between Stuttgarter Straße, Kelterplatz, and Outletcity makes the festival easily accessible for both local visitors and outlet tourists.

Sunday, September 27th, is also a Sunday trading day in the city centre and Outletcity (1 PM–6 PM) — a deliberate connection of Metzingen's two worlds.
