Marksmen's Tradition in the Schaumburg Region
Luhden belongs to the Samtgemeinde Eilsen in the Schaumburg district, a region known for its rich marksmen's and festival traditions. The Luhden Marksmen's Association (Schützenverein Luhden e.V.) is one of the reliable custodians of this custom. Throughout the year, the association cultivates shooting sports; in the summer, club life culminates in the grand marksmen's festival, which involves the entire village community.
Festival Program
The Luhden Marksmen's Festival follows the classic North German festival sequence. Friday evening marks the start with a club evening and welcome; according to the Rinteln Citizens' Marksmen's Association, the official program begins at 6 p.m. Saturday focuses on the bird shooting to determine the new monarch. Sunday is characterized by the grand parade, the King's dinner, and the King's Ball. Families will find a program for the youngest visitors, and the festival tent offers refreshments for members and guests.
Living Community
As in many villages in the region, the marksmen's festival in Luhden is much more than a club event. It is the village festival par excellence, bringing together older and younger generations, former residents, and visitors from neighboring communities. Friendly marksmen's associations from the Samtgemeinde Eilsen and the wider Schaumburg region are regular guests, contributing to the parade and the social evenings with their participation.
