Singakademie Frankfurt (Oder) — Tradition Since 1815
The Singakademie Frankfurt (Oder) is one of Brandenburg's oldest choirs. It was founded in 1815 and has shaped the musical life of the twin city Frankfurt (Oder)–Słubice ever since. Today, the Singakademie unites three ensembles:
- Boys' Choir — Boys and young men, the heart of the academy
- Chamber Choir — Smaller ensemble for intimate repertoire
- Grand Choir — Adult choir for larger oratorio works
The Boys' Choir is the internationally best-known ensemble and performs regularly in Frankfurt (Oder), Słubice, and on tours throughout Germany, Poland, and Western Europe.
St. Marienkirche as a Concert Hall
The venue for the season-closing concert is the St. Marienkirche in Frankfurt's city center—one of the most important Gothic brick churches in the Mark Brandenburg. Built in the 13th–15th centuries, severely damaged in World War II, and extensively restored since the 1990s, it now serves as a concert church and a symbol of German-Polish reconstruction. The acoustics of the high nave are ideal for choral music.
Concert to Mark the End of the Season 2026
The concert will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 3 PM in St. Marienkirche. It is the traditional season finale for the Boys' Choir before the summer break and thus a highlight of Frankfurt's music calendar.
The exact program will be published by the Singakademie on singakademie-ffo.de. As with previous season-closing concerts, a mix of sacred choral music (Bach, Mendelssohn, Schubert), folk songs, and occasional modern compositions is expected.
Frankfurt (Oder)–Słubice as a Cultural Space
The Singakademie is actively involved in the cross-border twin city: concerts feature both German and Polish traditions, and Polish singers and composers are regularly included. This makes their concerts more than just purely German events—they are an expression of a European urban identity on the Oder.
