Classical Music in Public Spaces — Cross-Border
Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice form one of Europe's few truly cross-border twin cities. The Klassik ohne Grenzen summer festival brings classical music to public spaces on both sides of the Oder, transforming the border into a space of connection rather than division.
8 Concerts from August 3rd to 30th, 2026
The festival runs over five weekends with a total of eight concerts — open-air, with free admission. The five main venues are:
- Am Anger (Frankfurt/Oder)
- Lennépark (Frankfurt/Oder) — designed by Peter Joseph Lenné
- Lienaupark (Frankfurt/Oder)
- Gertraudenpark (Frankfurt/Oder)
- Plac Bohaterów (Słubice)
Program: Classical to Crossover
The festival's concept is genre-open: Classical symphonic music forms the core, but the program also includes crossover formats with Jazz, Flamenco, chamber music, and children's concerts.
The Brandenburg State Orchestra
The Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt (BSOF) is the main organizer and musical heart. With over 80 musicians, the symphony orchestra maintains a traditional German-Polish cooperation with the Zielona Góra Philharmonic Orchestra.
Finale with Felix Mildenberger
The closing concert on August 30th, 2026, will be conducted by the designated new chief conductor of the BSOF, Felix Mildenberger — an internationally sought-after conductor who will take over the musical direction of the orchestra from the 2026/27 season.
In All Weather
In case of bad weather, concerts will be moved to the Marienkirche in Frankfurt (Oder) or the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice.
