Kochen am Schloss is one of the culinary highlights of the Oldenburg summer calendar. During the days when the city festival fills the entire city center, the small, high-quality festival on the Schlossplatz opens its own stage for top regional gastronomy.
Pagoda Tents on the Schlossplatz
White pagoda tents transform the Schlossplatz into an open-air restaurant quarter. Each tent belongs to a top Oldenburg restaurant, presenting its signature dishes here. The open show kitchens allow visitors to watch the cooking process and chat with the chefs.
Around 100 Selected Wines
The gastronomic offerings are accompanied by a curated selection of around 100 wines from German and international growing regions. Sommeliers provide advice on suitable pairings for the individual dishes.
Sustainability as a Claim
A hallmark of Kochen am Schloss is the consistent avoidance of disposable tableware. Food is served on porcelain, drinks are served in glasses, and meals are eaten with metal cutlery. Deposit systems ensure the cycle, and waste separation is part of the concept. The festival sees itself as a culinary statement for sustainable gastronomy.
Parallel to the City Festival
Kochen am Schloss takes place concurrently with the Oldenburg City Festival. While the 18 stages fill the city center with music, the Schlossplatz offers a quieter culinary refuge – ideal for lingering between concert visits.
Top Oldenburg Gastronomy
The participating restaurants belong to the top gastronomy of the city and the region. Each establishment presents its own culinary signature, allowing the festival to offer a tour through the diversity of Oldenburg's gastronomy.
