Underwater music experience in the Toskana Therme — 24th edition on October 31 / November 1, 2026
The Liquid Sound Festival in the Toskana Therme Bad Sulza is one of Germany's most unusual music festivals. Instead of a stage and an audience in front of it, the brine pool is transformed into a concert hall: you float in the warm water on a lounger or drift in the middle of the pool while underwater loudspeakers transmit live music and electronic sounds. Above you, live musicians perform on the stage above the water, while light and video projections move along the dome of the spa. The concept was developed here in the mid-1990s by artist Micky Remann and has been the trademark of the Toskana Therme ever since.
In 2026, the festival will celebrate its 24th edition, running from Saturday, October 31, 6:00 PM to Sunday, November 1, 9:00 AM. One night — 15 hours — of live concerts, electronic sets, visual art, and underwater sounds in uninterrupted succession. The stage above the water is the main venue, complemented by Liquid Sound Club acts (smaller DJ and live sets) and a finale with morning music between the last dream in the lounge and the first espresso at the bistro bar.
Headliner in 2026 is Joshua Sam Miller with his program "Sounds of the Ocean" — a magical journey of sound and image through the world's oceans. Live music meets visual art, combined with original underwater sounds of whales and dolphins. The visualization on the dome of the spa enhances the immersion — you truly feel as if you are floating through the oceans.
A special feature: Festival admission is included in the regular spa entrance fee. There are no separate festival tickets, no additional costs. Anyone booking a day ticket or multi-hour ticket for the Toskana Therme automatically gains access to the Liquid Sound Festival. This makes the experience extremely affordable compared to international festivals — and at the same time high-quality, as the festival takes place in the atmosphere of a wellness spa.
The festival is the highlight of an annual program. In between, monthly Liquid Sound Club evenings take place — on the first Saturday of each month — each featuring a live act or DJ set, in the same format (floating pool with music), but shorter and at the regular spa pace.
Bad Sulza in the district of Weimarer Land is a small spa town with around 3,000 inhabitants, which has a long tradition as a brine spa. The Toskana Therme opened in 1999 and is a flagship project of the Toskanaworld group, which operates several wellness resorts in Germany (Liquid Sound Festivals with the same concept also take place in Bad Schandau and Bad Orb). A trip is particularly worthwhile if you combine the Liquid Sound Festival with a weekend stay at the Therme hotel.
From October 31, 6:00 PM to November 1, 9:00 AM, 2026, the 24th Liquid Sound Festival takes place at the Toskana Therme Bad Sulza — 15 hours of live music, electronic sets, and visual art in and above the brine pool. You float in the warm water, the underwater loudspeakers make the music resonate directly within your body, and light projections move across the dome above you.
The headliner is Joshua Sam Miller with "Sounds of the Ocean" — an immersive sound and visual journey through the oceans. Whale, dolphin, and underwater sounds are combined with live music, and the visualization on the spa's dome enhances the depth effect.
