Franconian wine festival in front of the half-timbered town hall of Neuses am Berg
The Neuseser Glatzenweinfest takes place every year on the market square in front of the half-timbered town hall of the wine village of Neuses am Berg – a district of the town of Dettelbach in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen. The organizer is the Weinfestgemeinschaft Neuses am Berg (Wine Festival Community Neuses am Berg) under its chairman Gerd Köhler. The focus is on the red and white wines from the Neuseser Glatzen vineyard, which grow on the Main slopes around the village.
Throughout the weekend, there will be live music every evening. The highlight is the Glatzenprämierung (Bald Head Award) on Sunday afternoon, where men with naturally grown bald heads are solemnly admitted to the Fränkischen Glatzenclub (Franconian Bald Head Club) – matching the palm size of the reigning wine princess. In addition, the Café im Rathaus (Café in the Town Hall) offers coffee and homemade cakes on the weekend; the festival catering includes homemade sausage variations, steaks, currywurst, as well as beer and non-alcoholic drinks.
Neuses am Berg is a small wine village on the Maindreieck (Main Triangle), southwest of the Dettelbach town center. The Renaissance town hall backdrop with its half-timbered style forms the striking festival scenery. The village is located directly on the Mainradweg (Main Cycle Path) and is accessible between Würzburg and Kitzingen via the federal roads B22 / B8. In summer, Neuses am Berg is a popular stop for cycling tourists along the Main river.
The 2026 edition runs for three days on the market square in front of the half-timbered town hall. The opening on Friday evening at 7 PM marks the official start with live music. Throughout the weekend, red and white wines from the Neuseser Glatzen vineyard will be served, along with Franconian dishes.
