Ten small and medium breweries, over 60 beer varieties at the foot of Ulm Minster
For two decades, the Kleinbrauermarkt Ulm has been one of the most prominent beer festivals in Southern Germany — and at the same time, a statement for the diversity of Southern German brewing tradition. On the Südlicher Münsterplatz, right at the foot of the world's tallest church tower, ten small and medium breweries from the region meet and serve over 60 different beers — from classic Helles to Märzen and Weizenbiers, to modern IPAs and experimental craft brews. In 2026, the festival runs from May 21st to 24th.
Ten regional small and medium breweries participate in the festival, including:
This selection shows: no large industrial beer, but craft-brewed beers from breweries that represent their region and their brewing tradition. This is precisely what makes the Kleinbrauermarkt special.
A special innovation for 2026: For the first time, all participating breweries have jointly brewed a Fest-Märzen. This collaborative beer initiative is unusual for a festival with competing breweries — it underscores the community spirit of the festival and gives visitors a rare opportunity to taste a beer brewed only once.
The 2026 opening hours:
Festival operations run late into the evening every day, with an added Frühschoppen (morning pint) character on Sunday mornings.
An established engagement mechanic of the festival is the ProBier-Pass: visitors collect a stamp at at least six different brewery stands and enter a prize draw. The concept aims to motivate visitors to explore the entire range of beers — rather than settling at one stand.
Accompanying the beers, food stalls offer regional specialties: Swabian Maultaschen, grilled dishes, Käsespätzle, Bratwurst, and pretzels. Live music with daily changing bands provides the musical backdrop. A combination that makes the festival not just a pure beer experience, but a complete Swabian summer evening.
Ulm on the Danube, with its approximately 127,000 inhabitants, is the largest city between Stuttgart and Munich. Ulm Minster, at 161.53 meters, is the tallest church tower in the world and dominates the cityscape. On the Münsterplatz — right at the foot of the Minster — the most important city festivals and weekly markets have been held for decades. The Kleinbrauermarkt uses the southern part of the square, with a view of the late Gothic Minster and the historic city center in the background.
The Kleinbrauermarkt Ulm 2026 runs for four days at the foot of the world's tallest church tower. Ten breweries from the region — many from Ulm itself (Barfüßer, Schwanen, Kronenbrauerei), others from the wider region (Schlossbrauerei Aulendorf, Singh Bräu, Eremita, and others) — will serve over 60 different beers.
A special innovation for 2026: for the first time, all participating breweries have jointly brewed a Fest-Märzen. The beer selection is complemented by Swabian specialties (Maultaschen, Käsespätzle, Bratwurst), live music daily, and the established ProBier-Pass with its stamp collection activity. Free admission.
