Family and children's festival on the northern outskirts of Berlin, organized by Naturpark Barnim
At 749 km², the Barnim Nature Park is the largest German nature park in a metropolitan area: it extends from the northern Berlin city limits far into Brandenburg, from Pankow to Bernau and Oranienburg. The annual Naturparkfest in Blankenfelde is its most important public event. Here, what nature conservation, landscape management, and environmental education mean in everyday life becomes tangible – and in a way that primarily appeals to families.
The program balances child-friendly fun with gentle knowledge transfer. Walk-acts such as 'Stadtfee Florentina' (City Fairy Florentina) with her wish tree, 'Professor Friedrich Julius Odonatus' as an insect researcher, and the 'Froschkönig' (Frog Prince) on his silver stork roam the grounds. At hands-on stands, children learn to identify apple varieties, make their own herbal salt mixture, or marvel at mushrooms under a magnifying glass. Stage program with live music and theatre alternates with bungee trampolines, a climbing station, and a water playground.
Blankenfelde is located in the north of the Pankow district and is one of Berlin's most rural districts: a paved village green, a late Gothic fieldstone church, the former manor house, and pastures with Highland cattle in between. The Panke Park, where the festival takes place, is part of StadtGut Blankenfelde – a historic four-sided farmstead managed by the Stiftung Naturschutz Berlin (Berlin Nature Conservation Foundation). Ecological farming and educational work for school classes are carried out here.
Anyone wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the city center will find what they're looking for in the Barnim Nature Park. Hiking trails like the Barnimer Dörferweg, nature trails, observation platforms overlooking the moraine landscape – all of this literally begins at the city limits. The Naturparkfest is the accessible gateway to it: those who spend the day in Blankenfelde often leave in the evening with the promise to return soon for a day hike.
The day starts at 12 PM with walk-acts and the stage opening and ends around 6 PM. The exact stage times and workshop dates will be published in summer 2026 on naturparkfest-barnim.de.
The detailed 2026 program will be communicated before the event via naturparkfest-barnim.de.
