Christopher Street Day in the university city with Pride parade and Anlagensee finale
Since 2021, Christopher Street Day Tübingen has been an annual celebration of queer visibility in the Swabian university city. On June 21, 2026 — right after the movement's international Pride kick-off on June 28 — the Pride parade will march through Tübingen's historic old town and end at Anlagensee in a mix of political demonstration and exuberant open-air festival. With an annual 2,000 to 3,000 participants, CSD Tübingen is one of the largest Prides in the Württemberg region of southern Germany.
The Pride Parade typically starts at a central square in the old town — either at the Marktplatz, the Hauptbahnhof, or the Anlagensee. The route leads through the historic city center with its half-timbered houses, past the Rathaus with its distinctive Neptunbrunnen, down the Neckargasse, past the Stocherkahn (punt) moorings, and finally to the concluding meadow at Anlagensee. The approximately 2,000 to 3,000 participants consist of queer Tübingen residents, students from the Eberhard Karls University, supporters from all over southern Swabia, associations, initiatives, political parties, and expressions of solidarity from politics and business. It's a mix of demonstration, political statement, and exuberant summer party.
Around the actual CSD date, the association CSD Tübingen e.V. organizes the Queer Week — a series of workshops, readings, films, discussion forums, and party nights. Topics range from queer history and LGBTQI+ legal advice to trans-specific issues, queer literature, drag performances, and karaoke bars. The events take place in pubs, bookstores, university rooms, and cultural centers in the city — for one week, Tübingen becomes the queer capital of Württemberg.
After the parade, the crowd gathers at Anlagensee — a small park area on the Neckar riverbank in Tübingen's city center — for the closing celebration. Several live concerts with local and regional queer acts will perform, a "Market of Opportunities" with stalls from queer associations, counseling centers, Pride fashion stores, booksellers, and restaurants will open, and family-friendly programs for queer families with children will run. The atmosphere is exuberant, political, and communal.
Behind CSD Tübingen is the association CSD Tübingen e.V., which works year-round for queer visibility, equality policy, and solidarity. The association not only organizes the annual CSD but also solidarity actions on queer-relevant topics, counseling structures, and educational events. Tübingen, with around 91,000 inhabitants, is a university city in the Tübingen district, shaped for generations by the Eberhard Karls University, which hosts around 27,000 students. The high student ratio, the progressive political climate (long-standing Green majority), and the diverse cultural scene make Tübingen one of the most queer-open cities in Southern Germany. Worth seeing are the Stiftskirche, the Hölderlinturm, the Stocherkähne on the Neckar, and the beautiful old town — the ideal backdrop for a Pride parade.
CSD Tübingen 2026 will once again march through the historic old town of the university city. Pride parade with 2,000–3,000 participants, demonstration for queer rights, local initiatives, and expressions of solidarity from the entire region.
In the lead-up and surrounding period, the Queer Week will offer thematic events in pubs, university rooms, and cultural centers of the city. The finale will be at Anlagensee with live concerts, a "Market of Opportunities," and a family program.
Free admission. Food and drink stalls at Anlagensee at usual prices.
By train: Tübingen Hauptbahnhof (line Stuttgart–Tübingen or via Rottenburg), then approx. 5–10 minutes on foot to the old town. By car: A8 exit Tübingen, then into the city center. Parking available in the city center (multi-story car parks). Parts of the city center will be closed during the parade.
Sunday, June 21, 2026 — Pride Parade. Queer Week in the surrounding period (detailed schedule on csdtuebingen.de).
Free admission to the demonstration procession and the closing celebration at Anlagensee. Food and drink stalls at Anlagensee.
If you want to experience the full program, come for the Queer Week and several of its associated events. The queer-Tübingen atmosphere is worth far more than the Pride day itself. Solidarity donations via the association's bank details help finance next year's Pride.
