Arts and crafts and farm products on the Kirchplatz in July
Jever, with just under 14,000 inhabitants, is the district town of Friesland. It combines a historic city center, a castle, and a brewery. The Kirchplatz, located directly below the town church, is the natural center for many city events – in summer, also for the Arts and Crafts and Farmers' Market. The market will take place twice in 2026: once in July and once in September. This summer edition from July 11 to 12 benefits from the region's high season.
Organizer Uwe's Märkte carefully curates the exhibitor list. Anyone presenting at the Kirchplatz must prove their craftsmanship: no industrial mass-produced goods, but woodwork, ceramics, jewelry, glass, textiles, leather goods, prints, and creative original productions. The offer is supplemented by farmers' market stalls with regional specialties.
The Kirchplatz, with its cafés and restaurants, offers the ideal setting for a relaxed market visit. Families will find a pleasant mix of looking, buying, and lingering – ice cream, coffee, rolls, or lunch are available in the immediate vicinity.
Market enthusiasts travel to the Kirchplatz from all over the Wangerland, Wilhelmshaven, Wittmund, and Aurich. Holidaymakers from the East Frisian Islands and the North Sea resorts also use a market weekend for a day trip to the Marienstadt. The combination of a market visit and a city tour through the historic old town is a proven concept.
In addition to the July date, a second edition of the arts and crafts market will take place in September. Jever thus offers a platform that makes regional arts and crafts visible and at the same time boosts tourism.
The summer edition takes advantage of the peak tourist season and is aimed at both local residents and holidaymakers. The format follows the proven structure: Saturday with central market activity, Sunday family-friendly with a Sunday brunch atmosphere in the cafés.
A second edition will follow in September 2026 – both dates complement each other and solidify Jever as a market location.
The exact on-site program will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
