About Spring Regional Market

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Tübingen's Old Town will transform from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. into a colourful stage of regional diversity. The Spring Regional Market brings Swabian producers from the Tübingen region, the Swabian Jura, and Lake Constance into the city centre. From Swabian Albzarella to homemade ketchup, from spices and herbs from local gardens and forests to preserved delicacies, organic sausage specialities, game dishes, lentils from the Swabian Jura, as well as high-quality cooking oils and exquisite wines from local vintners. Parallel to this, the Climate Day with the 'Fair Trade Market' will take place in and around the town hall — energy advice, fair products, and sustainable initiatives. Admission free.

Spring Regional Market — the Swabian Producer Market

Anyone who wants to know what the Tübingen region has to offer culinarily should come to Tübingen's Old Town on Saturday, April 25, 2026. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., around 80 regional producers will transform the market square, the Holzmarkt, and the adjacent alleys into a lively market with the motto 'Regional is brilliant!' — the Spring Regional Market is one of the most important producer gatherings in Southern Germany and Tübingen's clearest commitment to the regional economy.

Swabian and Regional

The offering is a true showcase of the Swabian producer landscape:

  • Cheese from Albzarella (Swabian mozzarella) to mountain cheese
  • Homemade ketchups, chutneys, and mustards
  • Spices and herbs from local gardens and forests
  • Preserved delicacies — jams, pestos, pickled vegetables
  • Organic sausage specialities from pasture-raised animals
  • Game dishes from regional game
  • Lentils from the Swabian Jura (Alb-Leisa, a traditional variety)
  • High-quality cooking oils from regional production
  • Exquisite wines from local vintners (Rems, Neckar, and Lake Constance regions)
  • Honey, mead, juice, liqueur

Many stalls offer tastings — a relaxed way to get to know new products and small producers from the region.

Climate Day and Fair Trade Market

Parallel to the Regional Market, 'Climate Day' will take place in and around the town hall — the City of Tübingen, local climate protection initiatives, and consumer associations will provide information on energy saving, renewable energies, and sustainable living. With the 'Fair Trade Market', there is also a focus on fairly traded products — coffee, chocolate, textiles from fair trade, plus workshops and lectures.

Tübingen Old Town as Market Stage

The backdrop is unbeatable: Tübingen's Old Town with its narrow alleys, the town hall, the collegiate church, and the half-timbered houses offers one of the most beautiful market settings in Southern Germany. The market is spread across the market square (main stage with small performances by local musicians), the Holzmarkt (baked goods, wine, and cooking oils), the Neckargasse (cheese, sausage, game), and the adjacent alleys. Tübingen's cafés and restaurants have opened their outdoor seating areas — you typically combine the market experience with a cappuccino or a Swabian lunch.

Autumn Counterpart on October 10

The Tübingen Regional Market takes place twice a year — in spring and autumn. The Autumn Regional Market is scheduled for October 10, 2026, and complements the spring counterpart with the Harvest Festival focus season: more wine, more game, more mushrooms, and autumn products.

Tübingen — University City on the Neckar

Tübingen is the famous university city in the district of Tübingen, in the heart of Baden-Württemberg. With around 91,000 inhabitants and over 28,000 students, the city has a young, lively character. The medieval Old Town on the Neckar is one of the most beautiful in Southern Germany. You can reach Tübingen by train from Stuttgart in 60 minutes, from Reutlingen in 15 minutes.
