Spring market of regional producers in Tübingen's Old Town with the motto 'Regional is brilliant!'
Anyone who wants to know what the Tübingen region has to offer culinarily should come to Tübingen's Old Town on Saturday, April 25, 2026. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., around 80 regional producers will transform the market square, the Holzmarkt, and the adjacent alleys into a lively market with the motto 'Regional is brilliant!' — the Spring Regional Market is one of the most important producer gatherings in Southern Germany and Tübingen's clearest commitment to the regional economy.
The offering is a true showcase of the Swabian producer landscape:
Many stalls offer tastings — a relaxed way to get to know new products and small producers from the region.
Parallel to the Regional Market, 'Climate Day' will take place in and around the town hall — the City of Tübingen, local climate protection initiatives, and consumer associations will provide information on energy saving, renewable energies, and sustainable living. With the 'Fair Trade Market', there is also a focus on fairly traded products — coffee, chocolate, textiles from fair trade, plus workshops and lectures.
The backdrop is unbeatable: Tübingen's Old Town with its narrow alleys, the town hall, the collegiate church, and the half-timbered houses offers one of the most beautiful market settings in Southern Germany. The market is spread across the market square (main stage with small performances by local musicians), the Holzmarkt (baked goods, wine, and cooking oils), the Neckargasse (cheese, sausage, game), and the adjacent alleys. Tübingen's cafés and restaurants have opened their outdoor seating areas — you typically combine the market experience with a cappuccino or a Swabian lunch.
The Tübingen Regional Market takes place twice a year — in spring and autumn. The Autumn Regional Market is scheduled for October 10, 2026, and complements the spring counterpart with the Harvest Festival focus season: more wine, more game, more mushrooms, and autumn products.
Tübingen is the famous university city in the district of Tübingen, in the heart of Baden-Württemberg. With around 91,000 inhabitants and over 28,000 students, the city has a young, lively character. The medieval Old Town on the Neckar is one of the most beautiful in Southern Germany. You can reach Tübingen by train from Stuttgart in 60 minutes, from Reutlingen in 15 minutes.
By train to Tübingen Hbf, 10 min. walk to the Old Town. By car via B 27/B 28. Parking garages at the Town Hall and by the Neckar. The city centre is partially closed on market days — public transport recommended.
Free. Market takes place in all weather. Tastings often free.
