Rose Market and Antiques Market at the foot of Ulm Minster — 23rd edition
The combination is unusual, but it has worked for over two decades: Roses and antiques on Ulm's Münsterplatz. Both markets run parallel — the Rose Market on the Southern Münsterplatz, the Antiques Market on the eastern side. Visitors stroll from one to the other, usually discovering both.
On the Southern Münsterplatz, around 30 exhibitors present rose-related products: cut roses, rose bushes (wild, hybrid tea, shrub, climbing roses), as well as rose-related products like jam, liqueur, soap, cosmetics, and jewelry with rose motifs. Regional rose growers from the Danube bend and the Swabian Jura are the most important stall category — many offer their plants directly from the beds for sale.
East of the Minster, the Antiques Market runs parallel: over 60 stalls with furniture, jewelry, books, porcelain, silverware, lithographs, stamps, and curiosities. A special category is the booksellers — Ulm was an important book city for centuries, and the Antiques Market attracts antique enthusiasts from the entire region.
The venue is the Münsterplatz at the foot of Ulm Minster — the world's tallest church tower (161.53 m) forms the backdrop. The square was modernly designed in the 1990s and is ideal as a festival area: central, with excellent public transport connections, with fountains and shade under the linden trees.
Ulm, with around 130,000 inhabitants, is a city with a dual identity: Swabian (Baden-Württemberg, Ulm-Stadt district) and Bavarian (Neu-Ulm is directly opposite on the Bavarian side of the Danube). The city is home to Ulm Minster with the world's tallest church tower, the birthplace of Albert Einstein, and a university city on the Danube. The Rose and Antiques Market is one of the most traditional June events in Ulm's festival calendar.
The 23rd edition of the Rose and Antiques Market confirms the proven format: the Rose Market and Antiques Market run simultaneously on Münsterplatz. The mix of blooming freshness and antique history makes the day a special June event in Ulm's city center.
