A Traditional Kirmes in the Weimarer Land
The Kirmes Leutenthal is a traditional village fair (Kirmes) that is organized every year in June by the local council and local associations. The venue is the district of Leutenthal, one of the numerous districts of the unified municipality Ilmtal-Weinstraße.
Program with Dances and Concerts
The Kirmes event includes several dance and music evenings over the weekend, a morning pint gathering (Frühschoppen) with brass music, children's dances, and a traditional festive atmosphere. In past years, performances by the Thüringer Blasmusikanten Neumark, a «Dorfkind Radio-Party», and performances by regional bands have been regular features.
Ilmtal-Weinstraße – Weimarer Land
The unified municipality Ilmtal-Weinstraße was formed in 2019 from the merger of numerous districts and belongs to the Weimarer Land district. The region between Weimar and Apolda is characterized by the landscapes of the Ilm and Saale river valleys and the traditional Saale-Unstrut wine-growing area – the northernmost wine-growing region in Europe.
