Three days of wine festival in the Lünen pedestrian zone with vintners from all over Germany
When early summer reaches the Ruhr area, the pedestrian zone of Lünen transforms into an open wine garden. The Lüner Weinfest takes place from June 11th to 13th, 2026 at the prominent corner of Lange Straße/Neuberinstraße — right in the heart of Lünen's shopping mile.
Several vintners from various German wine regions set up their stalls:
The selection varies from year to year, but the focus is on family-run wineries that are personally present at the stand to explain their wines. Tasting glasses are passed over the counters, accompanied by classic wine-pairing dishes such as Flammkuchen, farmer's bread with lard, cheese platters, and antipasti.
Unlike traditional wine festivals with folk music, the Lüner Weinfest relies on DJ sets. Loungy beats during the day, chill house and pop sets in the evening — a modern take on wine enjoyment that attracts a younger audience. The atmosphere at the corner of Lange Straße/Neuberinstraße among the standing tables is convivial and urban.
The district town of Lünen is located in the district of Unna (North Rhine-Westphalia) on the northern edge of the Ruhr area, directly on the Lippe river. With around 86,000 inhabitants, it is one of the largest medium-sized cities in the Ruhr region. The Lange Straße pedestrian zone is the central axis — perfect for events like the wine festival, which revitalizes the city center for local gastronomy and trade.
The wine festival is organized by the City of Lünen with the support of local partners. It is one of the regular event highlights of the Lünen annual calendar and has become a firm part of the city center revitalization strategy.
