RheinVokal concert „A taste of home“ with Fleur Barron (Mezzo-soprano) and Julius Drake (Piano) at Schloss Engers
RheinVokal is one of the most renowned vocal and chamber music festivals on the Middle Rhine. From June 14 to August 30, 2026, the festival presents a series of concerts in special historical venues between Koblenz, Neuwied, Bendorf, and neighboring towns. Each concert evening thrives on the connection between repertoire, space, and acoustics.
Schloss Engers in Neuwied-Engers, a late baroque building directly on the Rhine bank, houses the Landesmusikakademie Rheinland-Pfalz. The concert halls — especially the Diana Hall with its ceiling painting — are among the most beautiful concert venues in northern Rhineland-Palatinate and offer ideal acoustics for song and chamber music evenings.
The program „A taste of home“ is dedicated to the folk music heritage of various cultures. Mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron — an international singer of Malaysian-Singaporean-British origin — and the English accompanist Julius Drake — one of the most important song pianists of our time — present songs from Great Britain, Spain, Latin America, France, Eastern Europe, and Asia. Home is thus explored musically as a plural, fluid concept.
The early start time of 6 PM allows for a relaxed Sunday evening in summer. Those attending the concert can combine the day with a walk along the Rhine or a visit to a restaurant in Neuwied-Engers.
The concert is part of RheinVokal (June 14–Aug 30, 2026), which promotes concerts in special locations along the Middle Rhine. Schloss Engers, with its baroque architecture and excellent hall acoustics, is an ideal venue for song recitals.
