The Kirchweih Fuchsstadt is organized by the Landjugend Fuchsstadt e.V. — a typical organizational structure in Lower Franconian communities, where young farmers and villagers jointly continue the Kerwa tradition. The venue is the Alte Schule at Kirchberg 6, a historic school building in the center of Fuchsstadt.

What characterizes a Lower Franconian Kerwa

The Franconian Kerwa of the Bad Kissingen / Rhön-Saale region follows a strictly traditional format:

• Raising of the Kerwabaum (Kerwa tree) — erected by the young men on Friday
• Festival Service — on Sunday morning in the parish church, with the Landjugend participating in traditional costume
• Hammeltanz — a Franconian wedding dance with a stick and a goose/duck, the traditional highlight of every Kerwa
• Festival tent operation with catering by the Landjugend
• Franconian delicacies: Schäuferla (pork shoulder), Bratwürste (sausages), Sauerbraten (marinated roast beef), Hefekrapfen (yeast doughnuts), Franconian beer
• Live bands on Saturday and Sunday evenings
• Family program with Frühschoppen (morning pint) and children's activities

The Kirchweih Fuchsstadt takes place annually in early July. In 2024, the festival ran from Friday, July 5th to Monday, July 8th. In 2025, the highlight was on Sunday, July 6th.
