Winzer Weinfest am Marktplatz Hammelburg
Two-day early summer wine festival in the heart of Franconia's oldest wine town
2026
About Winzer Weinfest
Winzer Weinfest — edition 2026
The Winzer Weinfest 2026 transforms Hammelburg's historic market square into a Franconian gourmet island for two mild early summer days. Participating vintners include Bioweingut Lange – Schloss Saaleck and Weingut Hümmler.
The atmosphere combines high-quality wines from the Saale valley with the backdrop of the town hall, parish church, and historic half-timbered houses. A classic for anyone who wants to enjoy Franconian wine not in a marquee, but under the open sky and on warm evenings.

Franconia's Oldest Wine Town Celebrates
Hammelburg is considered the oldest wine-growing town in Franconia – as early as the year 777, Hammelburg wine was documented. This deep wine culture shapes the Lower Franconian town to this day. Between the Saale valley and the Rhön mountains, vines grow on the steep slopes of Saaleck and Trautlestal, and the local vintners maintain a traditional craft.
The Winzer Weinfest on the Market Square
Unlike the large Hammelburg Wine Festival in July, the Winzer Weinfest on the Market Square is a compact, intimate early summer event lasting two days. Directly against the backdrop of the historic town hall and the parish church, Hammelburg vintners serve their own wines – Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Riesling, and also organic specialties.
What You Can Taste
- Organic wines from Weingut Lange (Schloss Saaleck)
- Classic Franconian wines from Weingut Hümmler
- Other Hammelburg vintners with classic varieties from the Saale valley
- Franconian specialties to accompany: Bratwurst, cheese, hearty breads
- Atmospheric live music on mild summer evenings
A Stop on Hammelburg's Wine Calendar
The Winzer Weinfest is part of a rich Hammelburg wine calendar, which includes wine culture at Weingut Ruppert, the Höflesfest at Schloss Saaleck, and the large Hammelburg Wine Festival in July, from May to September. Anyone wanting to explore Franconia and its wines will find the ideal start here.
