Kirchlengern — Municipality in the Herford District
The municipality of Kirchlengern, with around 16,000 inhabitants in the Herford district, North Rhine-Westphalia, is located in the southern Minden Land region between Bünde and Bad Oeynhausen. A classic Westphalian central municipality with a small town center along Lübbecker Straße, a market square, established clubs, and an active business association. The Sommerfest is one of the most important community events of the year here.
2026 Program — Beatles and Roller Skating
The Kirchlengerner Sommerfest 2026 runs from Saturday, June 13, starting at 8:00 PM and Sunday, June 14, until 5:30 PM. With two very different program focuses:
Saturday evening, the cover band ReCartney will perform a tribute program to Beatles and Paul McCartney. The four-piece band has a history of over 20 years as a tribute combo and is considered one of the most accomplished Beatles cover bands in the region. Repertoire: all the classics from "Let It Be" and "Hey Jude" to the solo McCartney discography.
Sunday, roller skating acrobat Till the Scot will take the open-air stage — described as a "mix of artistry, humor, and audience engagement", with spectacular juggling acts and halfpipe stunts. A format that is both family-friendly and surprising.
Open-Air Church Service and Sunday Shopping
On Sunday morning, an open-air church service will take place on the festival grounds — organized by the Protestant parish of Kirchlengern. The shops on Lübbecker Straße will participate in the Sunday shopping event with extended opening hours — allowing the Sommerfest to be combined with a relaxed day of shopping.
Flea Market on Lübbecker Straße
A special feature is the flea market on Sunday: private sellers (no commercial vendors allowed) will be selling used goods, toys, clothing, books, and collectibles along Lübbecker Straße. Stall fee only €5 per wallpaper table stand, double fee for wider spaces. Setup until 8 AM. The street will be closed from Fiemerstraße to Auf-dem-Acker-Straße. Community Festival with a Clear Profile
The Kirchlengerner Sommerfest combines three classic elements of Westphalian community life: live music, family program, and flea market. The mix of a Beatles cover concert and roller skating acrobatics is unusual enough to attract visitors from neighboring communities such as Bünde, Hiddenhausen, Löhne, and Bad Oeynhausen.
