A Festival for the Whole Family

The Kinderfest Großenwiehe is exactly what its name promises: an afternoon where the village puts its children at the center. The municipality of Großenwiehe organizes the festival every year on the first Friday in June at the primary school in the village center. What was conceived as a school and village festival has developed over the years into a firm meeting point for the community in the municipality of Schafflund-Großenwiehe.

What to Expect

From 2:00 PM, games and activities for children of different age groups will start: from sack racing and craft activities to sports competitions. Clubs and volunteers from the village community – including the volunteer fire department, the sports club, and the citizens' association – will supervise the activities. A cake buffet, bratwurst stand, and drinks will be organized by parents and local vendors.

Großenwiehe – A Piece of Angeln

Großenwiehe is located in the Angeln region, not far from the Danish border, nestled in a gently rolling cultural landscape with geest ridges, small lakes, and hedgerow landscapes. The municipality belongs to the Amt Schafflund-Großenwiehe and can be reached from Flensburg in about 20 minutes via the A7 motorway and federal road B199.

Village Community as Organizer

What makes the Kinderfest special is its character as a true village festival. There are no external showmen and no centralized events here – the program is managed by the community itself, with the help of local clubs. For families from the surrounding area – whether from Großenwiehe itself, from Lindewitt, Hörup, or Wallsbüll – it is a reliable occasion to meet at the transition to summer.
