26th edition of the annual neighbourhood festival on the easternmost edge of Berlin – sports tournaments, music, food, family activities
Wilhelmshagen and Rahnsdorf are two small, idyllic districts on the eastern edge of Berlin, between Müggelsee, Müggelheim, and the Brandenburg state border. They belong to the Treptow-Köpenick district and have retained their rural, almost village-like character to this day – single-family homes, old villas, lots of forest, few large shops. The Bürgerverein Wilhelmshagen-Rahnsdorf e.V. has connected the two villages since reunification and performs central community functions: local heritage, event organisation, club life.
The Children's and Family Festival is the community association's main annual event. It has taken place for over two decades at the festival grounds near the S-Bahn station Wilhelmshagen – a central location easily accessible to residents of both districts. The programme combines:
The event has existed since the early 2000s. 2026 marks the 26th edition – a remarkably long tradition for a neighbourhood festival. The 2025 edition took place on September 20, 2025 (postponed due to the school enrolment ceremony on the original date) and celebrated its 25th anniversary.
The Treptow-Köpenick district, with over 168 km², is the largest district in Berlin by area and by far the greenest – with Müggelsee, Müggelbergen, Plänterwald, and extensive forest areas. The districts of Wilhelmshagen and Rahnsdorf represent the most rural side of this district. Visitors to the family festival can combine the day with a walk along the Müggelsee or a trip to the Müggelspree nature reserve.
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the 26th edition of the Children's and Family Festival of the Bürgerverein Wilhelmshagen-Rahnsdorf will take place. The date is confirmed on the association's official event calendar.

The detailed stage and sports programme will be published in late summer 2026 at bv-wi-ra.de.
