Second Edition After Successful Premiere
The Kierspe Wine Festival is a new festival format from the city of Kierspe: Successfully launched as a premiere in 2025, it returns for its 2nd edition in 2026 at the VolmeFreizeitPark. Dates: Friday, July 3, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 11:45 PM and Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
The VolmeFreizeitPark as a Venue
The VolmeFreizeitPark is Kierspe's central park and recreational area on the Volme river — the small river that gives the region its name (Volmetal). With wide lawns, old trees, and the watercourse, the park offers a relaxed, summery backdrop for a wine festival — an alternative to typical downtown formats. The wine stands will be set up on the central festival grounds, with tables and seating areas set up outdoors in between.
Wine Selection
The wine festival classically presents a curated selection of German wines:
- Riesling from Mosel and Rhine
- Spätburgunder from Baden and Pfalz
- Grauburgunder and Weißburgunder
- Silvaner from Franken
- Sekt and Crémant from German wine-growing regions
- Tastes ranging from dry to sweet
Vintners and wine merchants from the Mosel, Rhine, Pfalz, Baden, Franken, and Württemberg regions present their wines directly at their stands — with advice and tasting opportunities.
Culinary Accompanying Program
Wine is best enjoyed with suitable food. The accompanying stands offer:
- Cheese variations (soft cheese, hard cheese, mountain cheese)
- Ham and sausage specialties
- Flammkuchen from a wood-fired oven
- Bruschetta and Mediterranean snacks
- Desserts to round off the evening
Kierspe — Town in the Volmetal
Kierspe is a town with around 16,000 inhabitants in the Märkischer Kreis district of North Rhine-Westphalia, located in the northern Sauerland region in the so-called Volmetal. The town has a rural-industrial character and lies between the major centers of Cologne and Lüdenscheid. The wine festival is one of the newer formats that the city has been establishing since 2025 to enhance its summer event culture.
