About Flimmerstunde
Flimmerstunde — edition 2026
The 2026 season of the Carwitzer Flimmerstunde starts in May and runs until September. This is the inaugural edition of this new series, which the Hans Fallada Museum introduced in 2026 in addition to its established series Freitags bei Fallada (readings) and Sonntags-Matineen (music).
Once a month, the Hans Fallada Museum Carwitz screens a literary film adaptation or a film on literary themes. The programme will be published over the season; so far, monthly dates during the main season (May to September) are known as structural features. Tickets are available via [email protected] or Tel. 039831 20359.

About
The Carwitzer Flimmerstunde was launched in 2026 as the third new event series of the Hans Fallada Museum in Carwitz. It joins the established reading series »Freitags bei Fallada« (Fridays with Fallada) and the monthly Sunday matinees, and is thematically positioned between film and literature.
Concept
Shown once a month from May to September:
- Literary film adaptations (film versions of novels and short stories)
- Films on literary themes (author portraits, novel adaptations, artist biographies)
The atmosphere is deliberately small and museum-like: the garden or hall of the Hans Fallada Museum at Bohnenwerder, with a view of the lake. The character is closer to a literary living-room cinema than a classic repertory cinema.
Position in the Event Calendar
The Hans Fallada Museum opens its main season at the beginning of May and closes it at the end of October. During this time, there is at least one reading from the Freitags bei Fallada series every week, a musical matinee every Sunday, and the new Carwitzer Flimmerstunde once a month. Visitors on holiday in the region can thus get to know the entire literary and musical programme in one week.
Significance
Hans Fallada (1893–1947) lived in Carwitz from 1933 to 1945 and wrote some of his most important novels there, including »Jeder stirbt für sich allein« (Alone in Berlin) and »Wolf unter Wölfen« (Pack of Wolves). His house at Bohnenwerder is now the Hans Fallada Museum and a cultural anchor of the Feldberger Seenlandschaft.
