The 2026 season of the »Freitags bei Fallada« series begins in mid-May and ends in mid-September. The Hans Fallada Museum Carwitz has opened its main season from April 1, 2026, with opening hours Tuesday to Sunday and on public holidays from 10 AM to 5 PM.
The season opening of the series in 2026 will be presented by actress and author Bastienne Voss with a reading from Fallada's novel Wir hatten mal ein Kind. Throughout the season, further readings, performances, and literary-musical programs will follow – every second Friday evening in the museum garden or hall of the Hans Fallada Museum.

About the Series
The »Freitags bei Fallada« series is the most distinguished literary event format of the Hans Fallada Museum in Carwitz. It stands for the preservation of the literary heritage of Hans Fallada (1893–1947), who lived in Carwitz from 1933 to 1945 and wrote some of his most important novels there – including Wer einmal aus dem Blechnapf frißt, Wolf unter Wölfen, and Jeder stirbt für sich allein.
Concept and Program
Every second Friday evening during the main season (mid-May to mid-September), actors, authors, and ensembles present a program:
- Readings from works by and about Hans Fallada
- Readings on 20th and 21st-century German literature
- Literary-musical performances
- Appearances by regional and national artists
The 2026 season will open with a reading by actress and author Bastienne Voss from Fallada's novel Wir hatten mal ein Kind.
Location in the Museum Garden
In good weather, the readings take place in the museum garden on Bohnenwerder, overlooking the lake – a unique location of its kind. In case of rain, the event moves to the museum hall.
Significance
»Freitags bei Fallada« is one of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's most important literary event formats outside of the Festspiele MV and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock. The series is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is part of the kultur-mv.de directory.
