What it's about
The bird watching tour is an ornithological spring guided tour of the Feldberger Seenlandschaft Nature Park. It is traditionally offered on March 21st – the astronomical start of spring – and uses the early morning hours to experience the spring songbirds in the forest, on the lakes, and in the traditional orchards around Carwitz.
Tour Schedule
The meeting point is at the Hans Fallada Museum in Carwitz, Zum Bohnenwerder 2. The tour lasts 2–3 hours and takes place under the guidance of experienced ornithologists through the protected area. Topics covered include:
- Identifying typical spring songbirds by voice and appearance
- Song Thrushes, Robins, Nuthatches, Chaffinches, Wrens, etc.
- The significance of the Feldberger Seenlandschaft as a European bird habitat
- Nature park strategies for bird and insect protection
Location
Carwitz is not only a literary center (Hans Fallada Museum) but also one of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's most diverse bird landscapes: mixed forests, traditional orchards, lakes, wetlands, and fields are concentrated within a few kilometers. The tour specifically utilizes this diversity.
Who organizes the festival
The organizer is the Feldberger Seenlandschaft Nature Park. The guided tour is led by nature park rangers and external ornithologists. Registration via the Haus des Gastes Feldberg (Tel. 039831 2700, [email protected]).
