Münster's Carnival — and Hiltrup is at the forefront

Münster is not known as a carnival stronghold — and that's precisely why the Karnevalsumzug Hiltrup has carved out a special place in the Münsterland festival calendar. Since the founding of KG Hiltrup e.V. 2007, the parade has grown to become the second-largest carnival parade in Münster, trailing only the traditional Rose Monday parade in the city center in terms of visitor numbers. In 2026, it will take place on Saturday, February 7th.

Program and Times

• 2:11 PM — Start of the Carnival Parade on Marktallee in Hiltrup. Classic carnival time (carnival-goers love the number 11).
• Parade Route: The exact route for 2026 will be announced shortly — as a rule, the parade runs along Marktallee with a turn through Hiltrup's town center.
• 4:11 PM or 4:30 PM — Party in the Stadthalle: The after-show event in the Hiltrup Stadthalle with DJ Luis is a must-attend. Tickets €12 pre-sale / €15 at the box office.

Participate — Floats and Walking Groups

• Floats: Registration for 2026 is closed. New float fee of €50 due to increased security requirements.
• Walking Groups: Free participation, registration still possible via form and email to [email protected].

Hiltrup — Münster's Southern District

Münster-Hiltrup is a vibrant district in the south of Münster in North Rhine-Westphalia. With Marktallee as its main thoroughfare and a preserved historic town center, Hiltrup retains a distinctly village-like character. KG Hiltrup is not just a carnival club, but a key contributor to the district's identity.

Getting There

By train: Regional train to Münster-Hiltrup, then a 10-minute walk to Marktallee. By car via the A1 (exit Münster-Hiltrup) or the B54. Parking is available on surrounding residential streets — limited on festival days.
