Braunschweig Brass Music Association

The Brass Music Association of the Braunschweig Regional Church is the central institution for evangelical brass choir work in the regional church area. It coordinates initial and further training, organizes festivals, and networks the brass groups of the regional church. The Landesposaunentag is the most important regular major event – a multi-day meeting of all active and former brass choir members, who gather in one place for concerts and services.

Motto 2026 – "Hoffnung, Glaube, Mut tuut gut!"

The motto playfully combines two lines: theologically, the Christian virtues of hope, faith, and courage – musically, the "tuut" of brass instruments. The 2026 Landesposaunentag thus sees itself as an encouraging signal in turbulent times. The musical selection ranges from classical chorales and romantic brass literature to modern arrangements.

Hornburg as the Main Venue

Hornburg hosts the main part of the festival. The historic half-timbered town in the Wolfenbüttel district offers the BMV Church (Beatae Mariae Virginis) as a concert venue, which is acoustically excellent for brass music. The Landesposaunentag opens on Friday evening with a festive concert; Saturday will feature workshops, concerts in the town, and an open-air serenade at the Gutshof Hornburg.

Concluding Service in Achim

Sunday is dedicated to the concluding service in Achim. Here, all participants will gather once again for a joint brass service, which fittingly concludes the Landesposaunentag. For Hornburg and the entire northern Harz foreland, the Landesposaunentag is an event that dominates the church music landscape for several days.

Landesposaunentag Hornburg — edition 2026

The 2026 Landesposaunentag runs from June 5th to 7th in Hornburg and Achim, under the motto "Hoffnung, Glaube, Mut tuut gut!". The Brass Music Association of the Braunschweig Regional Church gathers evangelical brass choirs for concerts in the BMV Church Hornburg, workshops, a serenade at Gutshof Hornburg, and the concluding service in Achim. It opens on Friday, June 5th at 7 PM with a festive concert. One of Eastern Westphalia's central sacred music events in 2026.

2026 Edition

In 2026, the Landesposaunentag again follows the proven three-step process of opening, main program, and conclusion. Hornburg, with the BMV Church and Gutshof, hosts the main program, while Achim provides the spiritual closing point with the Sunday service.

Community of Brass Choirs

The Landesposaunentag is not just a concert event, but also a builder of identity for the regional church's brass choirs. The multi-day encounter strengthens the network, promotes young talent, and creates memories that are carried forward to the home choirs.
