Wine Festival in Duisburg's Port District
The Ruhrorter Weinfest is one of the most charming district festivals in Duisburg – and since its first edition in 2020, it has proven that a high-quality wine atmosphere is possible even in the classic industrial Ruhr area. The venue is the Mühlenweide on Dammstraße in the historic port district of Ruhrort – one of Duisburg's most beautiful districts, characterized by port architecture, old warehouses, and proximity to water.
6th Edition 2026
In 2026, the wine festival will be in its 6th edition. What started as a small initiative in 2020 has developed into an established early summer event. The organizer is Kabierske Veranstaltungen, an event specialist from Duisburg for outdoor formats. The growing success is also evident online: over 1,600 people have expressed interest in the 6th edition via Eventfrog and Allevents portals.
Winemakers from Germany's Best Growing Regions
Wine producers from various German growing regions will be present at the festival grounds: Mosel, Nahe, Rheinhessen, Pfalz, as well as additional regions. Riesling, Burgundy, Cuvées, Rosé, sparkling wines, and Spätlesen complete the offering. Unlike large professional consumer fairs like KölnWein, this format remains intimate – you speak directly with the winemakers and get to know their wineries.
Five Days with Staggered Opening Hours
Opening hours 2026:
- Wednesday, June 3: 2:00 PM–10:00 PM
- Thursday, June 4: 12:00 PM–10:00 PM
- Friday, June 5: 2:00 PM–10:00 PM
- Saturday, June 6: 12:00 PM–10:00 PM
- Sunday, June 7: 12:00 PM–6:00 PM
The festival thus spans five full days – a comparatively long duration for a wine festival. This allows working people to attend (Thursday-Sunday, a long weekend) and also makes a relaxed Sunday stroll by the water possible.
Live Music Daily – Not Loud, but Present
The format features live music daily: singer-songwriters, jazz combos, small bands. The musical backdrop remains relaxed and invites you to linger – a lounge concept instead of stage noise. This is how the Ruhrorter Weinfest distinguishes itself from typical city festival formats.
Food Offerings Complement the Wine
Since wine alone doesn't fill you up, the stalls offer a well-thought-out food selection to accompany the wine:
- Flammkuchen – Alsatian classic with various toppings
- Cheese platters – regional and French varieties
- Grilled specialties – sausages, steaks, spare ribs
- Fish specialties – to pair with Mosel Riesling
- Crêpes – sweet and savory
Ruhrort – A District in Transition
Ruhrort is one of Duisburg's most exciting districts: a former port area, home to local workshops, artist studios, and a growing gastronomic scene. With district festivals like the Weinfest, the Hafenfest, and the Ruhrorter Sommer, the district has developed into one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in the western Ruhr area.
