Four days of international street food cuisine on the Rhine promenade with 35 food trucks
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia's largest city with almost 1.1 million inhabitants and a district-free city in the administrative district of Cologne, will be the venue for one of Western Germany's best-known street food events in spring 2026. From Thursday, April 30, to Sunday, May 3, 2026, the Trankgassenwerft on the Rhine promenade — a few steps from the Cathedral and the Hohenzollern Bridge — will be transformed into a four-day showcase of international street food cuisine.
Around 35 food trucks and mobile kitchens will travel to Cologne for the four days. The culinary offering covers three continents: from Germany, there's classic street food from duck burgers to handmade sausages and Spätzle to bratwurst variations; from Asia, Korean bulgogi, Japanese gyozas, and Vietnamese Banh Mi; from Latin America, Argentinian empanadas, Mexican tacos, and Peruvian ceviche. Caribbean specialties from Jamaica and spice-rich African classics complement the selection.
Sweet stalls are also included: handmade Dutch stroopwafels, crêpes, Belgian waffles, and French macarons. Vegetarians and vegans will find what they're looking for at specialized vendors — from falafel variations to tofu tacos and vegan burgers. Tapas portions allow for tasting multiple dishes for 4 to 8 euros, while classic street food portions range from 8 to 14 euros.
The Trankgassenwerft on Cologne's Rhine promenade offers the ideal spring backdrop: a view over the Rhine, a Mediterranean atmosphere, live DJs in the evenings, and cozy beer tent seating. Those who combine the festival on Sunday afternoon with a walk across the Hohenzollern Bridge or through the Old Town will have the perfect weekend finale in the Cathedral City.
Admission to the festival grounds is free — payment is exclusively for food and drinks. This makes the Street Food Festival Cologne an uncomplicated outing for families, groups of friends, or couples. The event has been held every spring since the mid-2010s and, alongside the summer edition at Tanzbrunnen and the autumn edition, is a firm fixture on the street food calendar in NRW.
The spring 2026 edition of the Street Food Festival Cologne uses the long weekend around May 1st (Labor Day) for four continuous festival days on the Rhine promenade. Opening on Thursday, April 30, from 4 PM. Main operations on May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd, from 12 PM to 10 PM. Winding down on Sunday, May 3rd, from 12 PM to 8 PM.
Around 35 food trucks and mobile kitchens from Germany, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean are expected. Highlights: Duck burgers, Korean bulgogi, Jamaican jerk specialties, Peruvian ceviche, handmade stroopwafels, vegan burger variations. Live DJs in the evenings, standing table atmosphere with a view of the Rhine and the Hohenzollern Bridge.
The exact list of food trucks and the music program will be published by the organizer Street Food Festival GbR via the event page koeln.de and social media a few days before the date.
