Anniversary Festival 2026
The multiple anniversary celebration is one of Collenberg's most significant local events in recent years. With the participation of all clubs, the Musikverein Collenberg, the Allianz Südspessart, and the municipal administration, a packed weekend is planned – spread between the Festhalle (for official and cultural program points) and the Mainvorland (for the inauguration and the public festival program).
Mainvorland as a festival backdrop
The inauguration of the newly designed Mainvorland is a symbolic highlight: the municipality hands over the redesigned riverbank to its citizens and guests, which will be open for events, picnics, and everyday use from 2026 onwards.

A triple anniversary on the Main
Collenberg is a municipality with around 2,300 inhabitants in the Miltenberg district (Lower Franconia, Bavaria), located on the right bank of the Main in the Südspessart. The municipality was formed in 1971 through the merger of the previously independent villages of Reistenhausen, Fechenbach, and Kirschfurt. The year 2026 is a particularly busy anniversary year for Collenberg:
- 825 years of Reistenhausen: The oldest of the three municipal parts celebrates its first documented mention in 1201 – a remarkable anniversary for clubs and local history.
- 55 years of the municipality of Collenberg: The 1971 merger into today's municipality.
- 50 years of the Festhalle Reistenhausen: The Festhalle, which serves as the central event venue, celebrates its half-century.
Allianzfest Südspessart as the framework
The Collenberg celebration is embedded in the Allianzfest Südspessart – a joint festival of the Kommunale Allianz Südspessart, an association of several municipalities in the southern Spessart that undertake joint projects through inter-municipal cooperation (transport, tourism, administration). The Allianzfest is the annual or multi-annual stage for this cooperation and will be hosted by Collenberg in 2026.
Inauguration of the new Mainvorland
A practical and symbolic highlight: the inauguration of the newly designed Mainvorland on the Reistenhausen riverbank. In recent years, the municipality of Collenberg has upgraded the Main riverbank with funding from federal and state governments – with new paths, greenery, seating elements, and views of the Main. The Mainvorland will be officially opened and fully utilized for the first time as part of the anniversary festival.
Program in the Festhalle and on the Main
The venue is the Festhalle am Main Reistenhausen (Mainstraße) as well as the adjacent riverbank area. A typical anniversary festival program will unfold over two days:
- Saturday, June 27, 2026: Ceremonial act with speeches, festive commemoration, inauguration of the Mainvorland, and in the evening, a grand anniversary festival in the Festhalle with live music.
- Sunday, June 28, 2026: Festive service, followed by a morning pint with brass music (Musikverein Collenberg), lunch in the Festhalle, a parade in the afternoon, family program, and winding down by the Main riverbank.
A detailed day-by-day program will be published in advance by the municipality of Collenberg and the Allianz Südspessart.
Reistenhausen – 825 years of history
The first documented mention of Reistenhausen dates back to the year 1201 – as Roisthusen or similar. The village is located at an old Main ferry crossing, which explains the historical significance of the place. In the Middle Ages, Reistenhausen belonged to the Archbishopric of Mainz, later to the Electorate of the Palatinate, and from the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803, to Bavaria. The Catholic parish church of St. Josef was built in 1925 – its 100th anniversary was already celebrated in 2025. In 2026, the larger local anniversary celebration will follow.
Südspessart – where Spessart and Main meet
The Südspessart is the southern half of the Spessart low mountain range, characterized by dense beech and oak forests, small villages along the Main valley, and a rich wine and beer culture. With the Main as its lifeline and the Spessart forest as its backdrop, Collenberg is a typical representative of this landscape.
