The Hüsten Funfair 2026 runs for five days from September 11 to 15 on the Riggenweide. 300,000 visitors, eight large rides (Twister, Mr. Gravity, Booster, Ferris wheel), three beer tents, dozens of food stalls, livestock market on Monday, and closing fireworks on Tuesday evening around 10:15 PM.
Tradition and Safety 2026
The auction of hand-carved wooden cones and the Hüsten Funfair song have been part of the event for generations. New safety campaign in 2026 in cooperation with local pharmacies for the prevention of date rape drugs and assaults.

Getting There
Arnsberg-Hüsten is located on the A 46 (Hagen–Brilon). Arnsberg-Hüsten train station is a 10-minute walk from the fairground, with lines from Dortmund, Hagen, Soest, and Paderborn. Fairground parking lots are available in the vicinity – heavily frequented on weekends, public transport recommended.
Opening Hours
5 festival days September 11–15, 2026. Rides and stalls open from 2 PM (weekends from noon) until 11 PM (later on weekends). Livestock market during the day on Monday. Open until after the fireworks on Tuesday (~10:30 PM).

The Sauerland's Biggest Folk Festival
The Hüstener Kirmes is widely celebrated as the largest folk festival in the Sauerland region. For five days, crowds flock to the traditional Riggenweide fairgrounds. The 2026 edition runs from Friday, September 11th, to Tuesday, September 15th.
Riggenweide Fairgrounds on Arnsberger Straße
The Riggenweide fairgrounds are located on Arnsberger Straße in the Hüsten district, right at the gateway to the Sauerland mountains. The scene is filled with traveling showmen, food stalls, and a large festival tent, alongside bumper cars, a Ferris wheel, and plenty of other rides for all ages.
Festival Program
- Friday, Sept 11 — 6:00 PM official opening with a keg tapping by the District Administrator of the Hochsauerlandkreis, followed by a party in the festival tent.
- Monday, Sept 14 — Starting at 9:00 AM: Livestock show and traditional market.
- Tuesday, Sept 15 — Family Day — From 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM: "Pay once, ride twice" on all fairground rides and 30% off at walk-through attractions. The traditional Comet fireworks display takes place around 10:15 PM.

Arnsberg is the district capital of the Hochsauerlandkreis—the largest district in North Rhine-Westphalia by area—and serves as the gateway to the Sauerland highlands. Hüsten is one of the largest districts with a distinct identity: shaped by its industrial history (formerly steelworks, now home to medium-sized businesses) and as a hub for Sauerland tourism. The Hüstener Kirmes remains the biggest city festival in the entire region.
