Biennial city festival in Reutlingen's city centre — multiple stages, Swabian and international cuisine
The Reutlingen City Festival is one of the largest city festivals in the Württemberg south of Baden-Württemberg and takes place biennially — every two years. On Friday, June 19th, and Saturday, June 20th, 2026, Reutlingen's city centre will open for the 23rd City Festival over two intensive festival days. The organizer is StaRT GmbH (Stadt Reutlingen Tourismus), which has been professionally organizing the city festival for years.
Over the festival weekend, multiple stages with live music will be active in Reutlingen's city centre. The musical spectrum ranges from jazz and rock to pop and Latin, as well as Irish folk, swing, and brass band music — a range that appeals to diverse audiences. Local bands from the Reutlingen area will meet national acts; the stages will be located at the market square, in the pedestrian zone, and in other squares.
Approximately 60 Reutlingen clubs, initiatives, and caterers will serve the festival audience. The culinary offerings range from Swabian classics (Maultaschen, Spätzle, Saitenwürstle, Zwiebelrostbraten) to international specialities — Italian antipasti, Asian street food classics, Turkish delicacies, vegetarian-vegan alternatives. The registration deadline for participating clubs and caterers has already closed on February 28th, 2026.
With around 116,000 inhabitants, Reutlingen is the second-largest city in the Tübingen administrative district and a central hub for the Reutlingen district. The city lies at the foot of the Swabian Jura, framed by the Albtrauf in the south and the Achalm — Reutlingen's local mountain — in the north. The historic city centre with the medieval Marienkirche, the Tübinger Tor, and the pedestrian zone forms a compact festival backdrop. The City Festival is Reutlingen's largest inner-city event, combining Swabian festival culture with a modern, diverse stage landscape every two years.
On Friday, June 19th, and Saturday, June 20th, 2026, Reutlingen's city centre will transform into a two-day festival arena. Multiple stages in various locations, Swabian and international cuisine, children's activities, and a cultural programme form the event — all under the umbrella of the 23rd Reutlingen City Festival.
The musical spectrum — Jazz, Rock, Pop, Latin, Irish Folk, Swing, brass band music — ensures that every age group finds its stage. Around 60 clubs and caterers will serve the festival audience with Swabian classics (Maultaschen, Zwiebelrostbraten, Saitenwürstle) and international street food specialities. The organizer is StaRT GmbH (Stadt Reutlingen Tourismus).
