Kick-off of the Duisburg Kirmes Season

When the Homberger Osterkirmes opens its gates, the Kirmes season begins for the showmen and Duisburg families in the Lower Rhine region. On the classic fairground Bürgermeister-Wendel-Platz on Lauerstraße — right on the B60, in the left-bank district of Homberg — around 25 rides and stalls come together for a manageable, family-friendly spring fair.

Three Days of Events Around Easter

Unlike many large funfairs, the Homberger Osterkirmes 2026 runs as a compact three-day event: It opens on Good Friday (April 10), is open continuously on Saturday and Sunday, closes on Wednesday and Thursday, and ends on Sunday (April 12). Daily opening hours range from 2:00 PM to approx. 10:00 PM. Those who want to visit the Kirmes outside of the holiday period should particularly aim for Sunday — families, grandparents, and children meet on the fairground in the afternoon.

Family Day and Fireworks Display

The regular program includes the Family Day with special prices for rides and the fireworks display on Friday evening, which atmospherically opens the first days of the season. The showmen offer classic Kirmes attractions: Musikexpress, Bumper Cars, Bungee Trampoline, children's carousels, candied almonds, crêpes, bratwurst, and a beer garden for the adults.

The district of Homberg is located on the left bank of the Rhine in the independent city of Duisburg (North Rhine-Westphalia) and is quickly accessible from the city center on the right bank via the Friedrich-Ebert-Brücke. The Osterkirmes is part of a broad Kirmes calendar, organized throughout the year by Schausteller Duisburg-Event GmbH — supplemented by the Brunnenkirmes, Schützenkirmes, and other district events.
