Lakeside Festival on the Hölzerner See

For years, the Hölzerne Seefest has been the traditional summer gathering on the Hölzener See, a small idyllic body of water near Hölzern, a district of the municipality of Eberstadt in the Heilbronn district. The Hölzern Angling Club organizes the festival annually on the first weekend of July. In 2026, the festival weekend falls on July 4th and 5th.

Trout Grilling and Fish Specialties

As the name suggests, fish specialties are the focus of the culinary offerings. Fresh trout, cared for by the angling club itself, are prepared on the grill — from the typical "Forelle blau" and Müllerin style to grilled trout from the charcoal grill. In addition, there are smoked fish, fish rolls, fish soup, and of course classics like bratwurst and fries for those who don't prefer fish.

Sunday — Weißwurst Breakfast at 10:30 AM

A Swabian specialty on Sunday is the Weißwurst breakfast at 10:30 AM — Weißwurst (white sausages) with sweet mustard and pretzels, an alpine breakfast tradition that has found its home in Württemberg. A relaxed bridge from Saturday evening to the Sunday program right by the lake.

Atmosphere Directly by the Lake

The Hölzener See is a small, idyllic body of water with trees around the shore and a wooden bridge over the narrowest part. This location is the charm of the festival: benches and tables are spread along the shore, families sit right by the water, children play on the beach, anglers cast their lines. A mix of a small Volksfest and a Hocketse (gathering) by the lake — typically Swabian.

Eberstadt in the Weinsberger Tal

Eberstadt is a municipality with around 3,000 inhabitants in the Heilbronn district, in the Weinsberger Tal. The municipality consists of the districts Eberstadt, Hölzern, and Eichelberg. Hölzern is the smallest part and is home to the Hölzener See — the geographical center of the municipality. The wine-growing tradition shapes the region; Trollinger and Lemberger are among the local wines.

Hölzern Angling Club as Organizer

The Hölzern Angling Club is the traditional organizer of the lakeside festival. The club maintains the Hölzener See, ensures a healthy fish population, organizes fishing events, and youth work. The Seefest is one of its most important events — both financially (proceeds for the club's work) and for its public visibility.
