A Summer Festival in the Heart of Dithmarschen

The Dorffest Kleve is the central social event of the municipality of the same name in the Dithmarschen district. The venue is the Halle Schallhorn – a central multi-purpose room in the village, used for festivities and sports events, which becomes the stage for the village festival.

Air Rifle Shooting and Festival Operations

The traditional air rifle shooting on the first day of the festival marks the sporting highlight – a classic component of many village festivals in Dithmarschen, closely related to North Frisian and Holstein shooting traditions. The second day of the festival is dedicated to setup and dismantling and a sociable conclusion: clubs, neighbours, and families meet at and in the hall, they grill, chat, plan, and celebrate.

Community and Village Clubs as Organizers

The organizer is the Municipality of Kleve together with the local clubs. As with many small festivals in the north of Schleswig-Holstein, the format relies on volunteer commitment – helpers from the village make it possible to set up the hall, organize the shooting, provide catering, and clear everything away again at the end.
