The Schützenfest St. Lamberti Mecklenbeck is a fixture in Münster's calendar of traditions. From 23 to 25 May 2026 — the Whitsun weekend — the St. Lamberti-Mecklenbeck Schützenbruderschaft e.V. organises its annual Schützenfest in the Mecklenbeck district in western Münster. St. Lamberti Brotherhood — A Münster Marksmen Institution

The brotherhood bears the name of Münster's city patron St. Lamberti. It organises the marksmen's life in Mecklenbeck with all the classic structures of a Westphalian Schützenbruderschaft:

• Board and Brotherhood Leadership
• Shooting competitions with Kaiser and King's shoot
• Jungschützen department with its own princes
• Spielmannszug for musical accompaniment
• Fahnenschläger as a ceremonial element

The current majesties of 2025 (King and Queen) are presented on the club's website with a court photo — a tradition that makes the marksmen's life visible.

Whitsun — The Traditional Date

The Mecklenbeck Schützenfest traditionally falls on the Whitsun weekend. This connection to a public holiday underscores the traditional religious and community character of the brotherhood. Whitsun 2026 falls on 24 and 25 May; the Schützenfest begins on Saturday, 23 May, with the king's shoot and ends on Whit Monday, 25 May.

Programme Phases

A classic Whitsun Schützenfest is divided into:

• Whitsun Sunday, 24 May 2026: Festival service, parade, crowning of the royal couple, gala evening

Mecklenbeck — Münster District with Tradition

Mecklenbeck is one of Münster's western districts, with just under 13,000 inhabitants and a distinct village identity. Münster, with around 320,000 inhabitants, is one of Westphalia's most important university and administrative cities. The old brotherhood and marksmen traditions live on in the districts — Mecklenbeck is one of the best examples.

The brotherhood explicitly invites all citizens to the Schützenfest — not just club members. The marquee and parade are publicly accessible. A true district celebration with a traditional flair.
