Skateboarding festival at the legendary Monsterbowl Münster-Berg Fidel on June 20, 2026, from 11 AM
The Berg Fidel Skatepark – also known as the "Monsterbowl" by insiders – is one of Germany's most important skateboarding monuments. Built in 1989 as one of the first real concrete bowls in Germany, it has shaped generations of skaters and enjoys an international reputation. The park is located in Münster's Berg Fidel district, a residential area in the south of the city.
Bergfest is the skatepark's annual season highlight. After a 7-year hiatus, it was revived in 2023 by a skater initiative – and was an immediate success: in 2023 and 2024, Bergfest attracted over 1,500 visitors each year, many traveling from across Germany's skate scene. The 2026 edition takes place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 11 AM.
The festival runs all day Saturday:
The organizer is the non-profit Münster Skateboarding e.V. – the association responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Monsterbowl. Membership, donations, and sponsorship from local businesses fund the bowl's upkeep and the annual event. The association is part of a nationwide network of skate initiatives.
The Berg Fidel district in southern Münster has a remarkable character: a livable neighborhood with a high proportion of social housing, yet home to one of Germany's most distinctive skateboarding scenes. The Monsterbowl is a neighborhood institution – a meeting point for skaters from all over Germany and, at the same time, a familiar playground for the local community.
Built in 1989 as part of a citizen initiative, the Berg Fidel Bowl is now one of Germany's oldest continuously operated skateboarding facilities. Its precise geometry and depth make it one of the most challenging facilities – not suitable for beginners, but a pilgrimage site for pro skaters.
Skate pilgrimage site meets neighborhood festival: Germany's oldest bowl becomes the stage for a day dedicated to the German skate scene.
