Longest Wine Market on the Rhine – 11 Days of Wine Festival with Music Fireworks Display at Klopp Castle
The Binger Winzerfest is one of the most significant wine festivals in Rhineland-Palatinate and, with eleven festival days, is considered the longest wine market on the Rhine. Organized by the city of Bingen am Rhein, it will take place from August 28 to September 7, 2026, and carries the quality seal of an AWARD-WINNING Wine Festival from the Rheinhessen region.
The festival scenery stretches across five festival grounds in the Bingen city center. Each ground has its own atmosphere: from the intimate wine village with Bingen vintners to the main stage with live bands and the traditional amusement park at the Hindenburganlage. This setup allows visitors to stroll through the city with a glass in hand and discover new program highlights.
One of the biggest highlights of the festival is the Music Fireworks Display at Klopp Castle, high above the city. Synchronized to music, the grand fireworks illuminate the medieval castle and the night sky over the Rhine Valley – a special UNESCO World Heritage spectacle.
For decades, the grand Winzerfest Procession on the second Sunday has been the social highlight of the festival. Floats, traditional costume groups, music ensembles, and cultural groups from Bingen and the entire region parade through the city; in the midst of it all: the Bingen Wine Queen and the queens of the friendly Rheinhessen wine-growing communities.
At the Hindenburganlage, rides, carousels, showmen's stalls, and food vendors create a Volksfest atmosphere. The amusement park makes the Winzerfest a worthwhile day trip for families and children too.
Bingen am Rhein is located at the entrance to the Upper Middle Rhine Valley UNESCO World Heritage site, opposite Rüdesheim. The city combines viticulture, romantic charm, and an industrial past. The Winzerfest serves as a showcase for Bingen and Rheinhessen wine culture.
