About the Market

The Handgemacht-Markt series has been organized for years by the organizer of the same name from Schleswig-Holstein and is considered one of the most distinguished arts and crafts markets in Northern Germany. The series visits Greifswald twice a year — in spring and early autumn — each time on the central Historic Market Square.

Exhibitors

Around 60 to 65 selected designers, manufacturers, and craftspeople show their self-made products: clothing, jewelry, ceramics, wooden objects, paper goods and prints, cosmetics, home accessories, maritime decorations. The selection is young, modern, and characterized by Northern Germany.

Marketing and Awareness

The organizer advertises each market with over 600 A1 posters and large circus banners throughout the city — the attention is correspondingly high. A small market gastronomy and the restaurants around the square invite visitors to linger.

Local Context

The Historic Market Square with its renovated brick-gabled houses from the Hanseatic era forms the ideal backdrop. Greifswald is a university city — the audience that fills the market on weekends is correspondingly young.
