The 20th Fête de la Musique Greifswald will take place on Sunday, June 21, 2026, starting at 1 PM on several open-air stages throughout the city center. Main stage at STRAZE (Stralsunder Straße 10). Program includes Pop, Rock, Jazz, Classical, and Folk. Completely free.

For its 20th anniversary, the Greifswald Fête de la Musique rolls through the city again. Starting at 1 PM on Sunday, June 21, 2026, several open-air stages will fill the city center — from STRAZE on Stralsunder Straße to the market square, courtyards, and parks.

The program is designed for all generations and genres: Pop, Rock, Singer-Songwriter, Jazz, Electro, Classical, Folk, A cappella, Hip-Hop. The organizer is gristuf e.V., in partnership with STRAZE and other local associations. Admission is free everywhere.

By train to Greifswald Hauptbahnhof, then a 10-minute walk to the center. By car via the A20. City center partially closed on June 21st.

About the Festival

The Fête de la Musique is one of the largest worldwide music festivals: launched in 1982 by the French Ministry of Culture, it is celebrated every year on June 21st — the day of the summer solstice — simultaneously in over 700 cities and 120 countries. In Greifswald, the Fête has been taking place since 2007, supported by the association gristuf e.V. (also organizer of the Greifswald International Students Festival).

Concept

The motto says it all: »Music for everyone, free and outdoors«. Several open-air stages are spread throughout the city center on June 21st — from the STRAZE socio-cultural center on Stralsunder Straße as the central main stage to squares, parks, and courtyards. There are performance opportunities for professionals as well as amateurs and school bands. The program is diverse: Pop, Rock, Singer-Songwriter, Jazz, Electro, Classical, Folk, A cappella, Hip-Hop.

Admission

Free admission on all stages — this is a core principle of the festival. Even bands that perform for a fee year-round traditionally play for free at the Fête.

Local Context

Greifswald is a university city with around 60,000 inhabitants, about 10,000 of whom are students — the independent music scene is accordingly vibrant. The Fête de la Musique is one of the city's most important summer kick-off events and fills the squares around the market square and in front of STRAZE every year.
