Spring run through Northern Germany's largest fruit-growing region
The Altes Land is Northern Germany's largest contiguous fruit-growing area — over 10,000 hectares of apple, pear, and cherry plantations stretch south of the Elbe between Hamburg and Stade. In mid-March, shortly before the blossoms, the Altes Land offers a unique running backdrop: bare but organized fruit tree avenues, marsh paths along dikes, and red thatched-roof houses in between. This is exactly where the Hamburger Halbmarathon organized by the Hausbruch-Neugrabener Turnerschaft begins.
Start and finish are at the CU Arena in Neugraben-Fischbek in the Harburg district. The half marathon route goes via Francop, then into the Altes Land to Neuenfelde and back. The shorter distances (10 km, 5 km) and the 5 km walking competition share the last third of the route. The 1.2 km children's run takes place entirely on the sports facility. All routes are "flat and well-paved" — ideal for personal bests and beginners.
Five competitions are on the program:
The Hausbruch-Neugrabener Turnerschaft (HNT) has been organizing the run for years. HNT is one of the largest sports clubs in southern Hamburg and ensures smooth logistics: distribution of start documents at the CU Arena, signposted routes, volunteer marshals, refreshment points, and timing. All distances are officially measured, so personal bests and qualifying times remain valid.
Neugraben-Fischbek is located in the Harburg district, south of the Elbe. The S-Bahn station Neugraben (lines S3, S31) is the nearest public transport link — a five-minute walk to the CU Arena. Those arriving by car will find limited parking around the sports complex; the HNT recommends traveling by train.
The Hausbruch-Neugrabener Turnerschaft confirms the date of March 29, 2026, on their event page. The route remains unchanged: start at the CU Arena, half marathon via Francop to Neuenfelde, shorter distances on partial sections. Cutoff time 12:30 PM.
